Hi, I'm Dana and I am a pet photographer based in Charleston, SC. I fell in love with pet photography the moment I picked up my first "big girl" camera. My two Golden Retrievers, Camden + Brady, were my favorite subjects to practice my photography skills on and is soon as I found out that pet photography was an actual "thing", I was hooked! Since 2011, I have had the honor of photographing many beloved family pets, as well as hundreds of shelter + rescue dogs in an effort to help get them adopted.
I am currently owned by two rescue pups named Beckham and Sunday. They are my world! And I know first-hand how valuable pet portraits can be after your best friend is gone. I still look at photos of my two Goldens who passed away in 2016 often. All 4 of my dogs are a huge part of my "why" and constant inspiration for what I do.
My ultimate goal is to provide you with images of your pet that are timeless, vibrant, and joyful. Images you will look at for years to come, that will always remind you of their heart. I can't wait to capture you pet's unique personality and spirit through my lens!

The Pet Portrait Experience is a longer session, lasting 60+ minutes, and the session can take place at a location of your choosing - whether it's your favorite neighborhood park, the beach, your home, downtown Charleston, etc. The sky's the limit and I'm more than happy to location scout for the perfect location for the session! At the end of your session, you will receive ALL of the edited digital files from your session and have the option to purchase additional edited digital files, prints, + products through your online gallery.
The Mini Session is a shorter session, lasting roughly 20 minutes, and the session will take place at Hampton Park in downtown Charleston. I can only photograph one pet per mini session due to the time constraints of this type of session. At the end of your session, you will receive 10 edited digital files and have the option to purchase additional edited digital files, prints, + products through your online gallery.
There are no hidden fees or minimum purchase requirements.
Many people are hesitant to book a pet portrait session because their dog can't be off-leash. They are so worried that their pets aren't well behaved or obedient enough to book a session.
Well guess what? It's 100% normal for us to keep your pet on-leash for the session!!
I'll shoot in a way that minimizes the impact of the leash in your photos and fix any major distractions in post-processing. Leash removal is included with your final edited digital files. No one will even know that your pet was on a leash during their session!
Good weather and great light go hand in hand - and both are important to create beautiful, light-filled images of your pets! I will keep an eye on the weather in the days leading up to your pet photography session and, if the weather looks questionable, we will definitely reschedule.
I've been working with and photographing pets for several years now. I've seen it all and I am 100% comfortable working with shy animals. It may take longer for your pet to warm up to me and my camera, but that's okay! I am patient and totally okay working at their pace. For shy pets, I always suggest choosing a quiet location without many distractions or even just staying at home, where they are most comfortable. Don't worry - we can still create magic even if your pet is shy!
Not at all! In fact, many of the images in my portfolio were taken while the dog was on a leash! If your dog needs to stay on-leash, it's not an issue at all. We will work together during the session to photograph your dog safely and I'll be able to remove the leash in post-processing - like it was never even there!
Absolutely! But please know that I am not a family photographer and the images will be more lifestyle in nature. The session is meant to revolve around your pets and the images I create with humans involved will still highlight your pet.
Absolutely! If you book a full Pet Portrait Experience, I can photograph up to 3 pets during one session. If you have more than 3 pets that you'd like photographed, please let me know and we can discuss! Due to the additional shooting and editing time required, there is an additional $50 per pet charge - but the more, the merrier!
I always suggest choosing a location that is special to you and your pets. Or a location that has the look and feel that you want in your photos. Local parks, open fields, downtown Charleston, the beach, your home... all great options for your session. I am also more than happy to share some of my favorite locations in Charleston if you're still having a hard time narrowing things down.
I will post a sneak peek on social media within 48 hours of your session. Your finished online gallery will be delivered within 3 weeks of your session date.
I am based in beautiful downtown Charleston, South Carolina and I absolutely LOVE traveling. I'm happy to photograph your pets wherever you're willing to take me!
Printing rights to your digital images are included in your pet photography session. You are free to download the digital files and print them anywhere you'd like - and there is also a shopping cart within your online gallery if you'd like to print your images through my professional print lab.
You are free to post your images on Facebook and Instagram, as well. In fact, your online gallery makes it easy to share them on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest with the push of a button!
I shoot with top of the line, professional Sony equipment. My main camera body is a Sony a7Riii mirrorless camera body. If you’d like to know more specifics about my gear, please don’t hesitate to ask. I love chatting about what I use and why!
